Registration: Visiting Canada

The ACM does not issue invitations for those requiring visas to visit Canada; however, we can provide a letter to help support a visa application.

Visa support letters are provided by the registration team once a registration has been confirmed and paid for. You can register at the CHI registration site. If you are the presenting author of an accepted CHI paper, we can provide a letter of support stating the title and authors of your paper.

Please follow these steps to prepare for attending CHI 2018.

  1. For information on visa requirements, please visit the Government of Canada’s Website on Visiting Canada.
  2. Find out if you need a visa, by using the online tool provided by the Government of Canada. You can also view the list of entry requirements by country.
  3. Check the visa processing times, using the Government of Canada’s website. Be sure to register in time to get your visa processed.
  4. You can apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (cost = $7) online. It is recommended that attendees from all countries listed (note this list includes Australia, most countries in Europe, and Britain) complete this process. Lawful permanent residents of the US also need one; however, US Citizens only need a US passport to enter Canada and do not need the ETA. Most applications are approved within minutes of applying online.
